Sidekick Joins the World’s “Best and Brightest” Medical Technology Startups

MedTech Innovator is one of the world’s premier non-profit accelerators in the medical technology sector and Sidekick is one of the 50 companies chosen to join the annual MedTech Innovator Summit.

During these uncertain and challenging times, the need for health innovators — specifically those that promise to deliver long-term value to the healthcare system and patients — is more critical than ever, Paul Grand, chief executive officer of MedTech Innovator, said.

MedTech Innovator is deeply committed to finding the best and brightest medical technology startups around the world and providing them with the right resources to help them succeed. We are excited to welcome this year’s cohort of entrepreneurs who are undoubtedly poised to improve the lives of patients through innovation.

The selection process for this year’s accelerator program was extremely competitive, MedTech revealed in a press release, with only a 3% acceptance rate.

Together with the senior leadership teams of its corporate partners and nearly 200 industry judges, MedTech Innovator evaluated the pitches of 190 candidates out of more than 1,000 applications from 45 countries and 48 US states.

Sidekick in the Finals for eHealth Award 2020

Global healthcare company Cerner, alongside its partners, has chosen the finalists for this year’s eHealth Award, with Sidekick joining Boneprox and Cuviva in the race to the finish.

The eHealth Award seeks to draw attention to the great digital innovations that exist in the region today, as they can contribute to a more sustainable and integrated care, as well as more engaged patients and citizens.

“As in previous years, we have worked with Sahlgrenska Science Park, HealthTech Nordic and Vitalis to come to this decision, but this time there has been one crucial difference – entries haven’t just been limited to start-ups and small businesses in Sweden – this year, we welcomed participants from across the Nordics, “ Cerner said in an announcement.

The jury had a challenge of choosing the finalists among so many great innovations. I’m impressed by the high level of the competing companies, and glad to see registrations from all Nordic countries. The variety of the finalists shows the broad innovation spectrum that exist in the Nordics, general manager for Cerner Nordics – and chair of the eHealth Award jury – Carolina Wallenius, said.

The winner will be announced at the Vitalis conference on 25 August. They will claim 50 000 SEK in prize money, ten hours of publicity work from the Miltton Group, and a speaking slot at a relevant conference.
